Our Client’s Challenge

Our client saw an opportunity for a brand extension—bringing them into the competitive facial care field. With its high-quality formulation, the new product would compete with luxury brands. It therefore needed an elegant presentation, both on shelf… and on the consumer’s bathroom counter.

Our Strategic Insight

By studying the dynamics of the brand within its community of followers, we recognized that the brand icon had a place of honour in their facial care repertoire. The unique icon features a dual silhouette with long hair billowing out from a pair of male and female profiles.

Our Solution

Our Art Director used the bold approach of making the icon so large, it flows across two facings of the box (and half the circumference of the dispenser bottle). Our client agreed with our recommendation of spelling out the product benefits right in the name: Benzagel® Gentle Hydrating Foaming Cleanser with Betaine, Neem Leaf Extract and Vitamin B3.

We then developed simple but elegant icons to highlight the unique high-end ingredients on the outer package, where it could act as selling copy, right on the store shelves.

The Results

The new product was welcomed by retailers in the facial care category, providing a look of distinction on store shelves. It competes effectively with comparable offerings from international major brands like Vichy, CeraVe, Cetaphil, and La Roche-Posay.
